The high path along the northern shoulder catches every breeze going. On our day it wasn't dangerous wind, just the sort that makes you lean slightly and zip your jacket all the way up. River's fur blew sideways. She looked offended.

Windy High Path

Waypoint 2
The walking is open and honest โ you can see the whole route ahead, no surprises except the odd boggy patch disguised as grass. We navigated around two, failed on a third, and accepted muddy trouser legs as the price of admission.
Waypoint 3
At the far end a stone shelter offered a windbreak. We shared an orange and watched clouds move fast over the next valley. River put her head on my knee. Wind forgotten.

Trail notes
Waypoint 5
- Exposed โ check forecast; we wouldn't attempt in high wind or poor visibility
- Waterproof boots recommended; bogs after wet weather
- Sheep everywhere โ short lead, calm passing
- No water on route; fill up at the car park
Waypoint 6
A proper hill day without needing a full mountaineering kit. Tired legs, clear head.
